Marcus focuses his practice on trusts, estates, and elder law.  His practice involves estate planning for all families, including LGBT couples, second marriages, and families who have members with special needs. He provides advice regarding elder law and Medicaid eligibility.  As a veteran of operating a family business and their associated issues, he has assisted closely held businesses through their succession planning.

Marcus leads the firm’s estate administration team, working closely with the estate administration paralegals to guide clients through the probate and estate administration process.  He has experience litigating Will contests, contested accountings, and Article 81 guardianship for adult incapacitated persons.  He has served as guardian ad litem, Article 81 guardian, court evaluator, and attorney for alleged incapacitated persons.

Marcus is a graduate of Pittsford Sutherland High School.  He received his BA in International Affairs and MA in International Economics from American University in Washington D.C. and his Juris Doctor from The Washington College of Law.  During that time he had the opportunity to study Defense Economics and Economic Integration at Université Catholique de Louvain in Brussels.  He studied French fluency through immersion at The American University of Paris and the USDA Graduate School.  He also studied Sanda (free combat) at the Beijing Shichahai Sports School.

Marcus is a member of the New York State Bar Association, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Rochester Area Community Foundation Professional Advisors Liason Committee, Estate Planning Council of Rochester, and an avid networker in BNI.

He loves to educate and has spoken for the New York State Bar Association, Monroe County Bar Association, AARP, Financial Planning Associations of Rochester and Buffalo, Estate Planning Council of Rochester, Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys, Rochester CPA Society, Society of Financial Service Professionals, Lifespan of Greater Rochester, as well as Pittsford, Fairport, Greece, and Rush-Henrietta continuing education and various in-house programs for financial advisors and their clients.

Off the clock, Marcus enjoys competing in USPSA (where he holds an “A” classification).  In connection with that sport, he holds an FFL 07 / SOT 02 which he uses to assist his clients in the lawful transfer and disposal of a decedent’s firearms after their passing.  He is also an automotive enthusiast and performance driving instructor, but his days of green-flag endurance road racing are over (for now).  Marcus lives in Pittsford with his wife, children, and cats.
