Tyler Gately

Attorney

Tyler is a Litigation Attorney at Morgenstern DeVoesick with a broad-based litigation practice, specializing in business litigation as well as labor and employment law. As a litigator, Tyler has been a trusted advocate to clients in a wide variety of matters in state and federal courts and arbitration proceedings. The clients in these matters are similarly wide ranging, including the representation of large corporations, small- to mid-size businesses, real estate developers, chief executive officers, judges, medical professionals, and many others.

Tyler draws on his perspective as a litigator to thoroughly evaluate legal risks with an appreciation of the realities of business and strives to find practical, efficient solutions that further his client’s objectives. Prior to joining the firm, Tyler served as an associate at the two largest law firms in Buffalo and at a prestigious litigation boutique in the region.

A native of Buffalo, Tyler earned his J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. While in law school, Tyler served as the Executive Editor on the Buffalo Law Review, as well as the teaching assistant in two doctrinal classes, Civil Procedure and Property Law, assisting faculty and first-year law students.

Tyler also competed in, and won, the Charles S. Desmond Moot Court Competition, taking home the three top honors: First Place; Best Oral Advocate; and Best Overall Appellate Advocate. His teammate in this competition was none other than fellow Morgenstern DeVoesick attorney, Emma Powlin. Upon graduation, Tyler was inducted into The Order of the Coif in recognition of his academic achievement. He earned his B.S. Summa Cum Laude from the University at Buffalo, where he studied economics and maintained an overall 3.98 grade point average.

Originally from Lockport, Tyler now resides in Buffalo’s vibrant Elmwood Village, where he enjoys doing home renovation projects, listening to some of his favorite records, and watching his beloved Buffalo Bills with family and friends.
